No Asylum for Anti-Cuban Terrorist Luis Posada Carrriles in the US!

MARCH AND RALLY - JUNE 13, 2005











On June 13th 2005, over 150 people gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery to demand the extradition of Luis Posada Carriles to Venezuela. This rally, organized by Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba (VCSC) was part of an international call to demand the extradition of Posada and no asylum in the US. In Vancouver we also came to the streets to demand US Hands off Cuba and to pressure the government of Canada to take a position in support of extradition of Posada to Venezuela.

The rally included speakers such as Tim Louis, Vancouver City Councillor, and representatives from, FMLN - Vancouver, Vancouver Internationalist Bolivarian Circles, Free The Cuba 5 Committee Vancouver and more. To read more about the action, click below for the press release...

Celebration of the July 26th Movement

CELEBRATION - JULY 26, 2005











It was a beautiful summer evening at Trout Lake Community Centre when Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba (VCSC)’s “Celebration of the July 26th Movement and the Gains of the Cuban Revolution” began. Event MCs Colleen Glynn and Shannon Bundock opened speaking passionately about the attacks on the Moncada Army Barracks 52 years ago. Bundock said, “The revolutionaries, led by Fidel Castro were set to change the miserable Cuban existence, they were set to do the impossible, they were set to rid Cuba of the US-backed dictatorship of Batista.”

Celebration of the Victory of the Court Appeal of the Cuban 5!

CELEBRATION - AUGUST 16, 2005

Tuesday Evening at El Cocal, a small restaurant on Vancouver’s Commercial Dr. was filled with the spirit of the Cuban revolution. Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba and the Free the Cuban 5 Committee Vancouver were joined by a range of organizations and individuals to celebrate the victory of the Cuban 5 in their battle for a new trial.

Rally to Demand:
No Asylum for Luis Posada Carriles!


RALLY - AUGUST 29, 2005

On August 29th, with Cuban flags flying high, over 250 people packed onto the sidewalk in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery in Downtown Vancouver BC, Canada. Chants of “Extradite Posada NOW!” rung out loud and clear, for the international day of action against anti-Cuban terrorist Luis Posada Carriles.

Commemorate Che Guevara and the Struggle of Heroic Fighters in Latin America!

At 6:30pm on Friday October 7th the Chilean Housing Coop in Vancouver was bustling with organizers from La Surda Latin American Collective and Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba (VCSC). Delicious food was prepared, the room was decorated with Latin American solidarity posters, the sound system was set up, the tables each had a vase of flowers and all that was missing was the guests. But soon they too showed up, filling the room to the brim. Tables had to be moved out of the way and extra chairs had to be brought in to fit the 120 people who showed up throughout the night.

Extradite Anti - Cuban Terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to Venezuela!


FORUM - DECEMBER 11, 2005

On Sunday December 11th, Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba (VCSC) and about 50 people gathered together at the Collingwood Neighbourhood House to learn more about the case of Five Cuban Heroes- René Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Gerardo Hernandez- who are currently imprisoned in US jails.

Free the Cuban 5 Held in US Jails!

PICKET ACTION - DECEMBER 12, 2005

On Monday December 12, 2005 the Free the Cuban 5 Committee-Vancouver organized a picket action to protest the US government's imprisonment of 5 Cuban political prisoners in the United States. This protest was to be only the first of many as the Vancouver committee announced that they will be organizing pickets every month at the US consulate in the future to protest this injustice.
