Organized by the Latin American Community in Vancouver, BC COMMUNIQUE TO RADIO AND PRINT MEDIA, & THE LATIN-AMERICAN COMMUNITY IN VANCOUVER Because of the immense destruction caused by the hurricanes "Gustav" and "Ike" on the island of Cuba, we have created an Emergency Committee under the name: "TO CUBA WITH LOVE". We propose to raise $10,000 within the Latin-American community, to be part of the national fundraising campaign of the Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC). To date, over $110,000 has been collected by this campaign. Our fundraising will culminate: TOMORROW - the 26th of October with a "Radioton" at the Polish Centre (4015 Fraser @ 24th Avenue). 10am - 7pm Please join us for live music from many different musical acts, delicious food, and other surprise performances. To help with this event, we are soliciting the collaboration of all media outlets, written and spoken, to spread the word about this initiative. In this city, we are working in collaboration with "VANCOUVER COMMUNITIES IN SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA", who have a direct link to the registered Canadian Charity Organization "MACKENZIE - PAPINEAU MEMORIAL FUND". They will be responsible for delivering 100% of the funds directly to Cuba, where there is an urgent need in reconstruction and social projects such as: Schools, hospitals, and seniors centers.
